Air Quality Improvement
Different type of plans are defined by the French Air Act:
At the regional scale:
At Paris scale:
- The regional air quality plan (PRQA). This framework plan provide a diagnosis of the state of the air quality in the whole region and provide recommendations to solve the issues raised. Its up date should start in to 2006 under the responsibility of the Ile-de-France regional council.
- The atmosphere protection plan (Plan de Protection de l’Atmosphère, PPA): development by the DRIRE Ile-de-France. Based on the PRQA recommendations, the PPA is aimed at providing mandatory measures to improve air quality and fulfil the EU directives by 2010. The main measures mainly concerns the emissions of incinerators, low NOx boilers and recuperators of gozoline vapors for filling stations.
- The Ile-de-France urban mobility plan (plan de déplacements urbains, PDU, 2000) which defines the general organization of transports, circulation
and parking in the Ile-de-France region. It determines the objectives, the method to be followed, the main pieces of work to be realized and the
financing to be foreseen. Given the specificity of this region as capital, this plan has been initiated by the State.
Paris mobility plan (Plan de déplacements de Paris, PDP) developed by the municipality of Paris, mainly aimed at traffic sources and at reducing the car place within the city in favour of the other users (restricted bus lines, development and improvement of public transport and cycle paths, green area, etc.).
