Environmental Situation
There are registered ozone exceedances between April and September due to the high values of solar radiation and the high temperatures in summer. The PM10 exceedances appear too, due to human and natural circumstances.

Because of the geographical situation of Huelva, it is very usual frequent episodes of particle intrusion, proceeding from the Sahara.

Since the analysis of the emission inventory on the Industrial area of Huelva, it is possible to obtain the whole pollutant emission, and the main activity sectors responsible for the same ones:
  • NOx (11.000 t/y): Electric energy production (48%), maritime transport (26%) and petrochemical industries (14%).
  • PM (1.700 t/y): Chemical industries (22%), paper industries (21%) and electric energy production (14%).
  • COVNM (19.600 t/y): petrochemical industries (34%), biogenic (19%) and chemical industries (18%).
  • CH4 (3.200 t/y): Solid waste disposal (24%), fuel distribution (23%) and biogenic (18%).
  • SO2 (14.500 t/y): Petrochemical industries (50%) and metal industries (26%).
