Málaga
Environmental Situation
There are registered ozone exceedances between April and September due to the high values of solar radiation and the high temperatures in summer. The PM10 exceedances appear too, due to human and natural circumstances.
Because of the geographical situation of Málaga, it is very usual frequent episodes of particle intrusion, proceeding from the Sahara.
Since the analysis of the emission inventory in Málaga and Costa del Sol (group of municipalities around the capital and located around the coast), it is possible to obtain the whole pollutant emission, and the main activity sectors responsible for the same ones:
- NOx (12.700 t/y): road transport (67%) and Portland Cement, Lime and Gypsum manufacturing (13%).
- PM (2.000 t/y): road transport (43%), non metallic minerals industries (25%) and domestic sector (14%).
- COVNM (18.300 t/y): solvent and other product use (28%), road transport (19%), biogenic (11%) and fuel distribution (11%).
- CH4 (14.000 t/y): Solid waste disposal (74%) and liquid waste disposal (13%).
- SO2 (2.700 t/y): Non metallic minerals industries (45%), maritime traffic (26%) and extractive and mineral processing (19%).
