Amsterdam
Environmental Situation
NO2 and PM10 cause limit value exceedances. Ozone is only a problem during long episodes
of hot stable weather in the summer. Benzene, CO, Lead and SO2 do not pose problems (anymore).
Trend analyses of our data shows that, in contrary to Dutch national predictions by the Netherlands Environmental
Assessment Agency (MNP), NO2 and PM10 levels are not decreasing in Amsterdam in the period 1999
till 2006.
A report on these data (in Dutch) is available at www.amsterdam.nl
Air quality problems differ spatially: the ring road and many inner-city roads do not meet the NO2 and PM10 limit values.
